Lovely days with Great Gran and my Grandson

I have been lucky enough to have a gorgeous baby boy come into my life. The modern world of working Mums has given me the opportunity to look after him one day a week.

Over the last three months those one day a week has been the highlight of mine and my Mum’s life. I thought I would share some of those moments.

Mum sits in the back of the car with him. I can hear their chatter and I know they are both happy. Sometimes I look in the rear view mirror and I see both of them with scarves on their heads taking it in turn to play be-bo. I hear giggles and “there he is!” at various intervals.

This week they were in the back as usual and my Sister was in the front. We hear Mum say “Can you whistle?” I frown and ask Mum “Can you?” She replies “No” At which point we all laugh. Then we hear a little laugh from the car seat, he is throwing his head back and joining in. Lovely moment.

I thought my days of soft play areas were behind me, until recently. I soon realised how unfit I’ve become as I try to squeeze through rollers and help a toddler climb up nets and crawl through tunnels. Mum has a lovely video of him at the end of one of those tunnels which has a Perspex dome on the end. He is banging on the window and calling “Hiya” to her. He gets super excited and screams, you do not want to be in the tunnel when he does that, it hurts your ears!

I’m looking forward to making many more memories with him. If there is a quiet time perhaps I’ll tell you some of them. I must say he is a very inquisitive boy and keeps us on our toes.
