Wuddled mords epidemic

Recently there has been a spate of words being muddled. I first noticed it on two car journeys, my Passenger (you know who you are but I am keeping your identity secret, or shall I do the ” names changed to protect identity ” thing?) my passenger “Mum” was listening  to the music when ‘In the summertime’ started, she said said oh this is Jungo Merry, one of Dads favourites. Oh, I mean Mungo Jerry! She realised instantly but it gave us a giggle.

Another day she said she loved Polly Darton, another giggle on our journey, she knows as soon as she says it…….maybe she has the wrong teeth in!

It keeps happening, recently at work the conversation turned to bailing wanshees, I don’t remember how or why the conversation got there…..I hope it doesn’t start a fly on the wall documentary, I have wondered whether those newly installed ‘fire detectors’ need to be so big……..nah, they are detectors and nothing else…..sorry it’s my paranoia kicking in again!

Today I misread this bottle, I saw Sneeze and squiff……..then had to go back and check. The brain does funny things, I guess when we are tired or stressed. But keep looking out for them and when they happen take the chance for some light relief, a giggle a day is always the best way.

The Local

The pub on the corner is up To Let, which got me thinking about how to re-brand it. There are a few pubs along the road so the competition is there. It is in an area with lots of Students so the potential customers are there.

What would bring customers in? I started thinking up names, it would have to be catchy and different. Something people could put into conversations, easy to remember and short or with the possibility to make it into a nick name or shortened.

My first thought was “I’ll meet you down The Local at 8pm”

Other thoughts were

  • The Open Arms
  • Cheers
  • Come on Inn
  • Bar none

Do you have any suggestions?

Not a great start to the day

After a particularly hot and sticky night with loud raging thunder storms I couldn’t decide whether I was happy the alarm had gone off at 6:30am or not. As usual Simon got up and went to the Bathroom, while I took the opportunity to doze for a while. I startled myself awake, not sure why and noticed the alarm clock had no light, at the same time I heard Simon pull the shower switch and walk back into the bedroom.

“Yeah, the power has gone off” I say (I’m good at assuming a question is in the air)

“The shower won’t be working due to the power being off” I reply.

“But I’ve had a shower” he says

So it’s my lucky day the power has gone out before I’ve had a chance to shower. I run a basin of water and dunk my head in to wash my hair….oh! Uh! Gosh that took my breath away. I have to continue now that I’ve started but I decide against splashing cold water all over and opt for the baby wipes instead. Haha.

It’s surprising how you, well I, continued trying to do things even though I knew there was no power

  • I try the wifi connection to see if I can find out when we might get power back.
  • I plug my Fitbit in to charge, doh!
  • I realise although I washed my hair it’s going to have to dry without the use of a hair dryer.
  • I almost tried to cook my porridge in the microwave.

Suffice it to say I am NOT a morning person.

Oh the photo isn’t relevant to this story but when I was looking for a photo I realised I hadn’t shared the irony of these two purchases made at the same time, the cashier gave me a funny look at the checkout too.

Knitting & Stitching Retreat

At the weekend my Sister and I went to a Knitting Retreat where we met a bunch of strangers, by the end of the weekend we realised some were stranger than others, hehe, I’m Joking.

We arrived at the Roundhouse, Halwell on a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon. We could hear people talking so followed the sound into a lovely Barn conversion. We met Saj and Lauren who gave us a warm welcome and Saj showed us to our room. We emptied the car of our crafting supplies and clothes, I think supplies out weighed clothes!

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy

In our room which was huge because it was meant for more than two there were goody bags and flowers which was a nice touch and made us feel warm and fuzzy.

We had the debate about who was having which bed and rather than unpack we chose all the things we thought we would need to craft, I had my Crochet I am determined to finish my Sophie’s Universe Blanket and Elaine had some knitting.

We then headed over to the main house for a much needed cup of tea. We had a chat with Saj while drinking tea and eating cake, then we headed to where everyone one else was sitting. We introduced ourselves and tried to remember lots of names, I just hoped they all didn’t get up too soon and move about because I was still repeating names in order in my head hoping to get them stuck.

At 6 o’clock Saj opened Prosecco and we all toasted her for organising her first Retreat (if you like the sound of it head over to her website Go Deer ) At 7 o’clock we sat around a huge table in the kitchen area and had the most amazing dinner. The food for the whole weekend was just superb and I could write a whole post just about the food.

Saturday we spent crafting together, there was an area of tables for people with sewing machines, there was a group who were making Quilts which is something I tried once and failed at many moons ago, maybe I will try again. There was also a Pirate Costume in the making and was finished by Sunday, so we had a mini catwalk show. The sun was shining and in the afternoon had dried the chairs outside, so we made the most of it and enjoyed the sun and stitching, heaven. We enjoyed a swim in the pool before dinner, it couldn’t be more perfect.17-02-18-unicorn-fringe-cut-9

Sunday was more of the same, we were all joking together and it was hard to believe we had only known each other for a short space of time. Lauryn was making a Unicorn hat and wanted to trim the fringe, so Elaine volunteered and was soon covered in rainbow droppings. Lauryn was also making a Mermaid Tail and was looking for someone tall to see if it was long enough, obviously I was not the first choice being a good 7 inches too short.

Monday after breakfast we had a farewell gathering and looking back the weekend had just flown by. We stopped at Dartington Cider Press because we just didn’t want to end the weekend and the sun was shinning but eventually we had to go home and back to normality. That was when I suddenly felt very tired and achy, I went to bed for an hour and today I am on the Lemsips, so I hope everyone else is feeling fit and well. A lovely weekend which we will look back on with a smile and some giggles.

Please don’t interupt when I’m typing

Today at work I was in the middle of sending an email, normal kind of day, I got asked a question, still quite normal. I finished talking and looked back at my screen, to find this!

I was in the middle of writing analytical because we had been emailing about setting up Google Analytics on a website, oh dear, fits of giggles had to be controlled before I could finish the message.

Hope your day had some laughter in it too.

Vodka and chop sticks save my nails

I am trying to grow my nails because I am treating myself to a manicure for Christmas. Trouble is, they keep snapping off at the bottom and they are shorter than they would have been if I had bitten them off!

So I bought a pair of Rubber Gloves but halfway through doing the dishes I remember them, doh, they are still in the packet. So I decided to put them out where I can see them. My solution? Two Chop Sticks inside the Gloves propped inside an empty Vodka Bottle…Ta dah.

Do you think I should have bought a brighter colour pair of Gloves……hmmmmm….maybe I shall buy Pink ones next time to match the bottle
